![]() ![]() Nothing wrong with that, it might not be for everyone, but as it is, for its price I think Clip Studio offers an amazing set of tools that are comparable to a much more expensive program, so I think it's an amazing deal. If you don't already have Clip Studio and are asking about it as a brand new user, and have a PC? I'm all for telling people that Clip is a much more affordable alternative than to something like Photoshop and at it's sale price, is very reasonable and is going to offer you better features than the free programs, but I have seen other artists say that the learning curve for it is way too high because it has too much, and they prefere something simple. It means that you can draw pixels and vector lines in the same picture editor instead of switching between programs. To me, I was happy to pay $15 for the new tools and to see if there's eventually any I intend to buy an Update Pass for in the future to try out those tools.Ĥ. Since you can use raster and vector layers, the workflow in Clip Studio Paint vs Photoshop is smoother, because it is a kind of mix of Illustrator and Photoshop without photo correction tools. However, it's still all personal preference whether it is or not. Since, you can save a head model for each character if you're doing a comic for example, it might help a LOT keeping all the characters looking consistent in their unique designs/proportions. If you do a lot of art for character designs, the head sculpting for models might come in a lot of handy too. Have you looked at the tool list to determine if there's anything that's going to save you a bit of time? Since the Upgrade is only $15 if you have a perpetual version of 1 already, if there are tools like the additions to text that help or the align tools, which I think will be helpful if you're used to moving things around and wanted them to line up, then perhaps it will be worth it. Since I tend to do more of painterly style and love messing with brushes that give me an oil painting look, I'm quite pleased about the Perceptual Blending, but I can understand why others might have zero use for it.ģ. I think it's worth it, because I upgraded to 2.0 for the new blending mode (for the most part). If that's what they want to do, I hope they find a program that suits their needs then. I've seen a lot of comments and topics since 2.0 was announced from users who said they were either going back to Photoshop, since they might as well do that than support Clip Studio and others who asked for best free programs since they were boycotting Clip as well. Clip Studio has a very powerful brush engine. You can also extensively customize any brush. There are also an enormous selection of brushes: you can use those posted daily on the asset store, and you can also use ANY photoshop brush. Especially love the Real Pencil and G-Pen. ![]() Is it worth it? This is pretty much a loaded question since its dependent on personal preferences. The brushes on Clip Studio feel natural and smooth. Do you feel like 1.0 meets all your needs? If so, then you might be fine with v1. ![]()
